Nashvegas
as we all know, i made it back from “music city, u.s.a.” safe and sound, and my trip was awesome. i flew in thursday evening and was surprised to see that the atlanta braves baseball team had arranged to be present for my arrival. that was friendly of them. and im not even a baseball fan!
kristen took me for a quick sightseeing trip around town where we saw: the batman building, the frist center for visual arts, country music hall of fame, the gaylord center, mcdonald’s, the hippodrome, the parthenon [nashville is the "Athens of the south"], a crazy naked statue, the stadium where the titans play [former houston oilers, for all who care], and of course the vanderbilt campus.
when i arrived, kristen’s friends gave me the most hearty welcome ever–it was totally great! we played ultimate frisbee on the lawn, and i showed off with my mad “skillz”….that is until i dropped it and this boy, matt dawson, yelled in my face: “way to drop it, new girl!!!” beyond that, the team was able to trust me still. i helped with multiple assists, and all-star kristen made several key points for us! score!
friday came, and it was packed with things to do, including: class, sorority/squirrel spotting [i saw kristen's allotted 3. squirrels that is, not sorority girls. although they were in abundance, too. to be honest, i think i saw more sorority chicks than little furry friends. sorry, kristen.], staring at 3 giants [VU b-ball players: Ted Skuchas, Matt Freije, & Dawid Przybyszewski], and the big music festival: rites of spring. that was 3 days of music for vandy kids, and we ended up going friday and saturday night. live music rocks my face off.
so….im trying to come up with a clever way to talk about saturday night. but words fail me….and so does my memory. oooh, man. all i can say is:
1. five in nashville, and
2. chad….from maryland. ooooh, right.
haha. so in addition to all the fun sights and good friends, we ate some high quality food: carraba’s, rotiers, jackson’s, SATco., and of course pancake pantry. lucky for me, we ate at pancake twice! i was definitely the fat kid…i think i gained like 5 lbs a day. but never fear, we walked it all off. kristen ran it off in the half-marathon—thats 13 miles kids. and she ran the entire thing. mad props to my girl. just thinking of running that much exhausts me. i didnt feel right standing near the 10 mile marker yawning as 1,000’s of people ran by. especially since i had slept until 9 and they had been up since 5. …oh, and the whole running for 10 miles already thing, yeah, thats probably the biggest reason why i didnt feel right.
there are so many things to talk about and not enough room here. but to close, i definitely have a great squirrel story. as ive said before, the vandy campus has a lot of squirrels. roughly 18,000. well, these ka-razy squirrels apparently like to hangout in the numerous trashcans and dumpsters around campus, and kristen had informed me to be ready. unfortunately, none jumped out at me, and i was upset that i had made it through the entire tip minus a trashcan squirrel. but, low and behold monday morning, whilst walking to class, i saw it. the trashcan flap wiggled and then -BAM – instant squirrel head! he jumped out of the trashcan and scampered up a nearby tree. my work in vandyland was complete. i could leave with a sound mind.
the vandy bubble was exciting and all of kristen’s friends were great. getting to experience dorm life for the first time ever was also quite the adventure, although i thank the Lord daily for real showers & my queen size piece of heaven. i was definitely sad to leave, but so thankful that i spent 5 days with the greatest chi-o-mazing lady ever!!!!
and just for the record, tennessee isnt all that bad. but texas can still kick its ……tail? haha.

i’m gonna be a star!
well, not really. but my mom already thinks i am. however, i am going to a city where stars are discovered everyday: nashville! i am so pumped!!! i get to visit kristen for 5 days. while im there ill check out those vandy kids ["tech is the 'dangerous minds' of vanderbilt." ...right, kristen? haha ..."andrew! anDREW! ANDREW!"], and of course ill be scouting the alleged squirrel population thats present on campus.
interesting fact: there are 3 squirrels for every undergraduate student at vanderbilt. that makes 18000 squrriels running rampant!!
this made me laugh a lot, and has nothing to do with anything: [thanks jill]
okay, that was weird, i know. but hilarious in a weird geeky way. speaking of geeks. i took the geek test that thaddeus posted, and im……MAJOR GEEK – 39.25049% …thats just sad. and wrong.
i think im going to take my geeky self and go pout somewhere. or maybe ill pack because i leave tomorrow [yay!], and true to whitney procrastination fashion, i havent even started packing.
to all my adoring fans, i will not be posting for the weekend. but rest assured that come monday/tuesday ill be back in action [this means that i cant get hate comments from people bc of lack of posting!!! i have a valid reason: im going to be a non-sketchy citizen on the nashville campus for a while. heh heh heh].
have a marvelous week & weekend! adios, amigos!

what a weirdo
*i eat my cheeseburgers from whataburger upside down. the cheese has got to be on the top.
*i like to explore new bathrooms. personal favorite on campus: old UC, where high tech used to be. i like the color scheme. runners up: 3rd floor chem building. its tiny & private. and it has a cool slanted ceiling. holden hall, outside the dean of arts and sciences [102] office. the bathroom has a full length mirror. that rocks my face off.
*i like using the staplert. thats right, the staplert. distant cousin of the popular, well-known, and overused office breed, the stapler.
*i think im having anxiety attacks at the thought of being seperated from my precious baby: black betty. the staffers are taking her and i know shes in good hands….but i havent been seperated from her in the case of someone else driving it minus me in the car *for a long period of time–like that of a trip* ….breathe….
*im actually sore from swinging for two hours last night. barron and i found the best swings in the city. but i think my hips and rear are feelin the after effect.
*back to bathrooms: i prefer to use the one farthest from the door. i dont believe that statistic that says the first stall is the cleanest.
*i gave my number to some random dude on friday. ive definitely had time to think about it, and maybe it freaks me out now.
*my new business card title should be: whitney green, d.m.a. – examination specialist and copy technician. i have mastered the new copy machine. the beast is mine now. it bows to me in total submission. i am the supreme being over it! although…i cant seem to get it to staple…..
*i have a very strong desire to watch the brother bear commentary again. maybe tonight…..
*in a recent conversation, i thought it would be fun to use the word danger as much as possible. i was successful in using it: 6 times in 5 sentences. best usage: “i dont think ive ever seen you do anything even remotely dangeresque.” …i think i can do better next time. my next word to overuse: cupcake. this is gonna be good.
*maybe i dont enjoy flossing my teeth so much as i enjoy sucking on the floss. my favorite flavor is mint, fyi.
i guess i should actually do something at work now….oh, the trials and tribulations i face here….never having enough to keep me busy. never knowing which bathroom to choose.
