rollin’ rollin’ rollin’
life has been rollin’ along, granted extremely fast & very bumpy, but at least its moving along. Here’s the skinny on my life this past week.
* we had a retreat this past weekend, where derek webb graced us with his presence and sang to us. the focus of our retreat was the church and what role it needs to play in our life. we listened to dusty, along with the traveling team. i was able to meet some new people, which is always great!
* black betty was injured! sad day for my precious little car…some guy backed into the side of her at sonic, and then he tried to blame me!! oh, i’m sorry. next time i’ll try to keep my car from moving sideways into your truck’s rear bumper.
* i began reading a book–that isn’t required for class! whoa. i never read anything besides my friends’ away messages and jill’s blog. anyway, i picked up jane green’s novel jemima j and i haven’t been able to put it down! its a definite must.
* enjoying the sunshine and warm weather while reading jemima j is an awesome way to spend my lunch hour. enjoying the burning sensation of tiny ants feasting on my skin is not. moral of the story: don’t enjoy your lunch hour on the benches outside the chemistry building as vicious sugar ants will rip you apart.
* while i’m not the promptest of people [that's an understatement], i was actually making an effort to get to class early yesterday. however, there were no spots available in the entire lot. so as i sit there, ready to pounce on the next available spot, a man drives up to me in his tow truck. the following conversation takes place:
me: *jamming out to sonny & cher – i got you babe*
man: you need a spot?
me: yes, sir. i’m just waiting.
man: give me 3 minutes.
he drives off and 3 minutes later, with the addition of several cars watching as the jerk, me, sits in anticipation and horror as mr. tow truck man extracts a car.
me: *in amazement & awe* um, thank you….
man: people ask us why we have tow trucks in this lot. well, its for people like you. *wink* have a good day.
the really cool, and by cool i mean crummiest, part of this fiasco is that during the time he was moving the car for me, a fellow student parker walks up and gets into his car. 2 spots away. then, he looks at me and just shakes his head. crap.
if you’re the owner of a black mitsubishi eclipse, and you were towed yesterday, i’m really sorry. i didn’t know what i was getting into by showing up early for class. who knew that me doing something good could screw up someone else’s day. i’ll try to be late from here on out.
