I may be Twenty-Six…

fresh-faced kid..and her moma

…but I still feel like a kid.

Go check out Jennifer’s lovely post in honor of my special day. It celebrates my recent-ish trip to Louisville and shows some of the pictures that I haven’t had a chance to edit & post to Flickr yet. [Thanks so much, Jenn! It's super sweet!!]

Happy birthday to some more August 28-ers: Chris Hutson, LeAnn Rimes, and Jason Priestly!

Back to School

I can’t even believe it really.

Not only have I successfully attended my nine hours of classes for the semester, but I’ve also started my new job! I forgot what it was like being an undergraduate, walking all across campus, and sitting in uncomfortable chairs while taking notes. Despite those things, I am actually really excited to be trying my hand at something new. In two days, I’ve made a new friend AND dropped a lotta cash on school supplies and books. Eeee!

Luckily for me, being an art student means being able to buy all types of fun supplies.

My favorite item so far is the black and white bag with lime green straps! It’s the perfect accessory for a back-to-school lassy like me!

Wish me luck this first semester; pray that I would be diligent in my classes & job, and not overwhelmed by the full plate I’ve set before myself! I’ll be praying for my fellow school friends [and even those out of school] for the same things. Here’s to a new year!

Semi-Empty Nest

I tried to act like I wouldn’t miss her, but it only took me two days to fall into that sad realization that the Sheeb is actually gone! I realized it when I took a trip to Target the other night. It was the same type of trip that I would have normally made her take with me, and when I picked up my phone to call and see if she was busy & could, I realized she wasn’t here anymore. :(

So, truth is: I miss Shleby Necks.

She could be a pain, especially when she took my things without asking, but having her around was something I took for granted. And after trying as hard as I did to convince her otherwise, she’s an Aggie now, situated nicely with her friend Addison in a cramped dorm room in College Station.

Good luck, Shebee! I love and miss you, kiddo.

[I tried embedding my video of Penny being pissed that Shelby was leaving, but it's not working for some reason. Click here until I can figure it out.]

Just in Time

Isn’t God’s timing crazy….or maybe crazy-amazing?

As I went to check things in my Google Reader today, this article was waiting for me from the Desiring God website: “Is God Punishing Me?” by Jon Bloom.

Rather, this was the message they were to understand from their hardships: God loves you! He has fatherly affection for you. He cares deeply for you. He is taking great pains so that you will share his holiness (Hebrews 12:10) because he wants you to be as happy as possible and enjoy the peaceful fruit of righteousness (Hebrews 12:11).

The entire article greatly encouraged me as it touched on so many of the same feelings I’ve been having [see two posts down...]. Please go read it when you get a few minutes.
